Recipe Ingredients

  • (a) pasta wrapper
  • (b) mushroom and corn filling
  • (c) broccoli, red pepper, snap peas
  • (d) marinated shrimp, marinated tofu
  • (e) soy sesame marinade

Equipment Needed

  • cutting board
  • small bowl
  • spoon & fork
  • 2 skillets or saute pans
  • lid
  • scissors
  • wooden spoon
  • tongs

Recipe Directions

  1. Open the package of wonton wrappers (a) and lay them out on a cutting board. Fill a small bowl with water and place it near the cutting board. Cut open the package of mushroom filling (b) and place a spoonful of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper (each scoop of filling should be slightly larger than a hershey kiss).
  2. Take your pointer finger and dip it into the small bowl of water. Wet the edge of half of the wrapper with your damp finger. Fold the wonton wrapper in half and press down to seal. Gently squish in the sides where the filling is to round it out but give it a flat bottom. (It should resemble a kettle bell).
  3. When the potstickers are formed, use a fork to press down on the top of each potsticker (where the wonton wrapper edges are folded together). Crimp the edges with the fork to make sure it is sealed.
  4. Heat a saute pan over medium-high heat for 2 minutes. When the pan has warmed up, add 1 tbsp of oil or enough to coat the bottom of the pan. Add the potstickers to the pan with the flat bottom down. Season lightly with a pinch of salt and pepper. Sear for 30 to 60 seconds checking regularly. Once golden brown turn the potstickers on their side.
  5. Remove the pan from the heat. Wait 1 minute and then add enough water to coat the bottom of the pan. Cover the pan with a lid and steam for 2-3 minutes.
  6. While the potstickers are steaming, heat a second skillet or saute pan over medium-high heat for 2 minutes. When the pan has warmed up, add 1 tbsp of olive oil or enough to coat the bottom of the pan. Add the broccoli, pepper and snap peas (c) to the pan. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Saute the vegetables for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. When the potstickers have finished steaming, place on one side of your serving plates.
  8. Cut open the package of shrimp (d) and add to the pan along with the vegetables. Stir and make sure each piece of shrimp is touching the bottom of the pan. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook for 1 minute without stirring, then flip the shrimp over and cook for another minute. Check if the shrimp is done (they should be pink and opaque). If not, flip over and cook for an additional 30-60 seconds.
  9. When the shrimp are opaque, add the soy sesame sauce (e) to the pan. Stir well to combine. Serve the shrimp stirfry beside the potstickers.

It was so much fun to make our own potstickers for the first time ever! It's recipes like this that make me excited to cook! I do wish the directions on how to shape them was a little more clear, but it was delicious as always, and that's what really matters to us.

We love this dish and order it whenever it’s offered. Potstickers are easy to make and the mushroom filling is so delicious.
