- (b) buttermilk marinade
- (c) !Bang Bang! biscuit mix
- (d) butter
- (e) sour cream
- (f) herbed flour
- (g) hot honey
Equipment Needed
- baking sheet lined with parchment paper
- seasoning plate
- mixing bowl
- glass baking dish
- pot /bowl to melt butter
- wooden spoon
- skillet or saute pan
- tongs for chicken
- plate & paper towel
Recipe Directions
- For best results, take the chicken out of the refrigerator 10 minutes before starting to cook. If you skip this step, you may need to cook the chicken longer than this recipe card indicates. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut open the package of chicken (a) and place on a plate. Season on both sides with a pinch of salt and pepper. Pour the buttermilk marinade (b) over top and let the chicken marinate while you prepare the biscuits.
- Dump the dry mix (c) into a large mixing bowl. Grease a baking dish. Melt the butter (d) on your stovetop or in your microwave and pour into the dry mix. Add the sour cream (d) to the dry mix. Mix with your hands or a spoon until thoroughly blended.
- Measure the batter into 1/3 cup slightly mounded scoops and arrange side by side in the greased baking dish. You should have enough mix to make 2 biscuits / serving. Place the baking dish of biscuits in your 400 degree oven and bake for 25 minutes.
- While the biscuits are baking, it is time to “dredge” the chicken. Pour about 1/4 of the herbed flour (f) over the chicken, flip the chicken over and pour another 1/4 of the flour over top. Press the chicken down to help the flour stick to the chicken. Repeat this process with the remaining flour & herbs until the chicken is completely coated.
- Heat a skillet or saute pan over medium-high heat for 2 minutes. When the pan has warmed up, add enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan with 1/4 inch of oil. Gently place the chicken in the skillet (be careful of hot oil splattering). Cook for 3 minutes, checking occasionally that the chicken is not burning, then flip over and cook the other side for 3 minutes.
- After searing the chicken on both sides, transfer to the baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place in your 400 degree oven. Bake for 18-20 minutes.
- When the biscuits have baked for 25 minutes, turn the oven heat down to 350 degrees. Rotate the baking dish 180 degrees. Bake the biscuits for another 10 minutes. (It is OK for the chicken to cook at the lower temperature).
- When the chicken is ready, transfer to a plate lined with paper towel to rest. When the biscuits have finished baking, place on your serving plates.
- Place the chicken on top. Drizzle hot honey (g) over everything.
