Recipe Ingredients

  • (a) ginger sausage
  • (b) celery, carrot, poblano peppers, green cabbage
  • (c) egg noodles
  • (d) marinated shrimp
  • (e) teriyaki sauce, chicken stock
  • (f) chili honey butter

Equipment Needed

  • 4-6 quart pot
  • skillet or saute pan
  • scissors
  • wooden spoon
  • strainer
  • serving spoon

Recipe Directions

  1. For best results, take the sausage and shrimp out of the refrigerator 5 minutes before starting to cook. If you skip this step, you may need to cook the proteins longer than this recipe card indicates.
  2. Fill a 4-6 quart pot with water. Put the pot on the stove over high heat. Add 2 tbsp of salt to the water. (The water should taste salty). Bring the water up to a boil and then start step #3.
  3. Heat a skillet or saute pan over medium-high heat for 2 minutes. When the pan has warmed up, add 1 tbsp of oil or enough to coat the bottom of the pan. Cut open the package of pork sausage (a) and place in the pan. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook for 4-5 minutes (or until the pork is golden brown), stirring occasionally.
  4. When the sausage has finished cooking, add the vegetables (b) to the pan. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook for 2 minutes over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
  5. While the vegetables are cooking, add the egg noodles (c) to the pot of boiling water. Cook for 7-9 minutes.
  6. After 2 minutes, add the shrimp (d) to the pan. Pour the teriyaki sauce and chicken stock (e) into the pan. Stir well to incorporate the ingredients together. Bring the mixture up to a simmer. Once simmering, turn the heat down to medium or medium-low to maintain a simmer. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  7. When the noodles have finished cooking, strain the water and rinse the noodles thoroughly. Then add the noodles back to the pot they were cooked in. Put the pot over high heat.
  8. Pour the shrimp, sausage and vegetables on top of the noodles and gently mix with tongs or a wooden spoon. Add the chili honey butter (f) on top. Cook for 90 seconds over high heat, stirring constantly. Taste and add more salt and pepper if you wish.
  9. Spoon the shrimp pancit on to your serving plates.
