Recipe Ingredients

  • (a) green cabbage, carrot, poblano peppers
  • (b) sesame aioli
  • (c) braised brisket
  • (d) japanese barbecue sauce
  • (e) brioche bun
  • (f) cucumber, pickled jalapeno

Equipment Needed

  • mixing bowl
  • salad tongs
  • scissors
  • skillet or saute pan
  • wooden spoon
  • tongs
  • baking tray
  • pastry brush

Recipe Directions

  1. For best results, take the brisket out of the refrigerator 10 minutes before starting to cook. If you skip this step, you may need to cook the brisket longer than this recipe card indicates. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees fahrenheit.
  2. Pour the cabbage, carrot and peppers (a) into a mixing bowl. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Pour the sesame aioli (b) on top. Gently toss with tongs. Set aside.
  3. Heat a skillet or saute pan over medium heat for 2 minutes. When the pan has warmed up, add 1 tbsp of olive oil or enough to coat the bottom of the pan. Add the braised brisket (c) to the pan and stir with a wooden spoon to spread out the pieces of brisket. Pour the japanese bbq sauce (d) over the meat. Cook for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally. (Note: the brisket has been pre-cooked, so you are just warming it up).;While the brisket is cooking, brush the insides of the brioche buns (e) with a small amount of oil. Place face-down on a baking sheet in your 325 degree oven. Warm until toasted.
  4. When the brisket has finished cooking, use tongs to place a portion of meat inside each bun. Top with sesame slaw. Garnish with pickled cucumbers & jalapeno (f) to suit your taste.
