Recipe Ingredients

  • (a) teriyaki marinated chicken breast, marinated tofu
  • (b) Corn Starch
  • (c) bok choy, haricot vert, baby corn, broccoli
  • (d) udon noodles
  • (e) teriyaki sauce
  • (f) chili sesame sauce

Equipment Needed

  • 4-6 quart pot
  • 2 skillets or saute pans
  • wooden spoon
  • strainer
  • mixing bowl
  • seasoning plate
  • paper towel
  • tongs
  • serving spoon

Recipe Directions

  1. For best results, take the chicken out of the refrigerator 10 minutes before starting to cook. If you skip this step, you may need to cook the chicken longer than this recipe card indicates.
  2. Fill a 4-6 quart pot with water. Put the pot on the stove over high heat. Add 2 tbsp of salt to the water. (The water should taste salty). Bring the water up to a boil.
  3. Cut open the package of marinated chicken (a) and place on a plate. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Pour the corn starch (b) over the chicken. Turn the pieces of chicken over a few times to coat with corn starch.
  4. Heat a skillet or saute pan over medium-high heat for 2 minutes. When the pan has warmed up, add 2 tbsp of olive oil to the pan or enough to coat the bottom of the pan plus a little extra. Add the chicken to the pan. Make sure each piece of chicken is touching the bottom of the pan. Sear for 3-5 minutes.
  5. While the chicken is cooking, heat a second skillet or saute pan over medium-high heat for 2 minutes. When the pan has warmed up, add 1 tbsp of olive oil or enough to coat the bottom of the pan. Add the vegetables (c) to the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently.
  6. While the vegetables are cooking, add the udon noodles (d) to the pot of boiling water. Cook for 3-5 minutes, depending on how firm you like them.
  7. At this point, your chicken will have seared on one side. Turn the pieces of chicken over and sear the other side for 3-5 minutes.
  8. Returning to the pan of vegetables, add the teriyaki sauce (e) to the pan. Gently stir to coat the vegetables with sauce. Turn the heat down to low and simmer until the noodles have finished cooking.
  9. When the noodles are cooked to your liking, strain the water and add the noodles to the pan of vegetables. Gently stir to incorporate everything together. Remove the pan from the heat.
  10. When the chicken is cooked, spoon into a mixing bowl. Pour the chili sesame sauce (f) on top and toss to coat with sauce. Spoon the noodles and vegetables on to your serving plates. Add the crispy sesame chicken on top.
