Recipe Ingredients
- (a) flank steak
- (b) bourbon glaze
- (c) green beans, red onion, garlic
- (d) grape tomatoes
- (e) arugula
- (f) honey mustard dressing
Equipment Needed
- scissors
- seasoning plate
- skillet or saute pan
- wooden spoon
- mixing bowl
- cloth
- tongs
- cutting board & knife
- serving spoon
Recipe Directions
- For best results, take the steak out of the refrigerator 5 minutes before starting to cook. If you skip this step, you may need to cook the steak longer than this recipe card indicates.
- Cut open the package of steak (a) and place on a plate. Season both sides of the meat with a pinch of salt and pepper. Spoon 1/4 of the bourbon glaze (b) on top of the steak, then flip over and spoon another 1/4 of the glaze on the other side of the meat. Reserve the remaining glaze for later.
- Heat a skillet or saute pan over medium-high heat for 2 minutes. When the pan has warmed up, add 1 tbsp of oil or enough to coat the bottom of the pan. Add the green beans, onion and garlic (c) to the pan. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Saute the vegetables for 2-4 minutes (depending on how crisp you like your green beans). Stir occasionally with a wooden spoon.
- Next add the tomatoes (d) to the pan with the green beans, onion and garlic. Saute everything for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then spoon all of the vegetables into a mixing bowl.
- Carefully wipe out the pan you were using with a cloth and return the skillet to medium-high heat for 1 minute. When the pan has warmed up, add 1 tbsp of oil or enough to coat the bottom of the pan. Place the steak in the pan and sear for 4 minutes, then flip the meat over and sear the other side for 3 minutes. When the steak has finished searing, remove from the pan and place on a cutting board to rest.
- While the steak is resting, add the arugula (e) to the bowl of vegetables. Pour the honey mustard dressing (f) into the bowl. Mix with tongs. Taste and add more salt and pepper if you wish. Spoon the salad on to your serving plates.
- Cut the steak into 1/2 inch thick slices. Place on top of the salad. Pour the remaining glaze over the steak.
